BlackMound (“BlackMound,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit blackmound.com (the “Site”), contact us, or otherwise interact with us.
This Policy applies only to BlackMound’s Site and direct communications. Our funding application is hosted and processed by a third party, Big Think Capital, Inc. When you select an application link and leave our Site, information you provide is collected directly by Big Think Capital under its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. BlackMound does not control that third party’s privacy practices.
1. Personal Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact information: name, email address, telephone number, business name, and other details you provide when you email, call, or submit a form available on the Site.
- Communications: the content of messages, requests, questions, and other correspondence you send to us.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, dates and times of visits, and general interaction data.
- Cookie and similar-technology data: information collected through cookies and comparable technologies used for Site operation, security, traffic measurement, and performance.
BlackMound does not collect your funding application, Social Security number, bank account information, tax identification number, credit report, or financial statements through the Site. If you choose to apply through the linked third-party portal, you provide that information directly to the application provider.
2. How We Use Personal Information
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site.
- Respond to questions and provide requested information.
- Understand Site traffic, usage, and performance.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, misuse, security incidents, and technical problems.
- Comply with law, enforce our agreements, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
- Carry out a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, sale, or other business transaction, subject to applicable law.
3. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Service providers that support hosting, security, analytics, communications, and Site operations, subject to appropriate contractual restrictions.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, insurers, and auditors when reasonably necessary.
- Government authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or security.
- Transaction participants in connection with an actual or proposed merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets.
We do not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state privacy laws. We do not disclose mobile opt-in or SMS consent information to third parties for their own marketing.
4. Third-Party Application and Links
The Site links to a funding application operated by Big Think Capital and may link to other third-party websites. Your use of those services is governed by the third party’s terms and privacy policy. Review those documents before submitting information. BlackMound is not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of third-party sites.
5. Cookies and Analytics
We may use essential cookies and analytics technologies to keep the Site working, protect it, measure traffic, and understand how visitors use it. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect certain Site functions. Because we do not currently sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, we do not presently offer a separate opt-out link for those activities. Where required by law, we will treat a recognized Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing requested support, maintaining security and business records, resolving disputes, and complying with legal obligations. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and the reason it was collected.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
You may unsubscribe from promotional email by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we maintain about you. Depending on your state of residence and subject to legal exceptions, you may also have rights to obtain a portable copy, opt out of certain processing, limit certain uses of sensitive information, appeal a denied request, and receive equal service and pricing when exercising privacy rights.
To submit a request, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request,” or write to the address below. Describe the right you wish to exercise and the information involved. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision and writing “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line.
9. California Privacy Notice
If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, applies to BlackMound, California residents may have the rights to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain information about our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. During the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories described in Section 1 from the sources described there, used them for the purposes in Section 2, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients in Section 3. We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and have no actual knowledge that we sold or shared personal information of anyone under 16.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated by additional notice where required by law.
